How we report this site.

What we do, what we don't, and how the data behind every dossier is sourced.

§ 01 Mission

VietnamRelocate publishes field dossiers for people considering a move to Vietnam — digital nomads, remote workers, retirees, and families weighing the numbers before they pack. Every article aims to be the most practical, honestly-sourced answer to a single question a reader is typing into Google or an AI assistant: what does it actually cost to live here, and what should I expect when I arrive. We are not a lifestyle blog and not a travel agency — we are an editorial publication built around public data and on-the-ground observation.

§ 02 Methodology

Our cost-of-living figures come primarily from Numbeo, the largest crowd-sourced cost-of-living database, which aggregates user-submitted prices across hundreds of categories per city. We re-scrape Numbeo on a monthly cadence so that rent, grocery, and transport numbers in each dossier reflect the most recent data available at the time of the last update (the date stamped at the top of every article).

Numbeo serves prices in local currency. We convert Vietnamese dong (VND) to US dollars (USD) using a reference rate close to the prevailing mid-market exchange; see each article's update date for the applicable snapshot. FX drift between updates is a known limitation — for large purchases, always confirm against a live rate (Wise, XE, or your bank).

Numbeo is supplemented with local sources where needed: Vietnamese government visa pages for residency and e-visa rules, World Bank country indicators for macro context, and first-hand observation from the editor, who is based between Kazakhstan and Southeast Asia.

§ 03 Editorial policy

Drafts are written with AI assistance and reviewed by a human editor before publication. Numerical claims are pinned to the scraped dataset — the AI is not permitted to invent prices. Any figure in a dossier either traces back to Numbeo, to a named government source, or is explicitly flagged as an estimate.

VietnamRelocate does not publish sponsored content. Where we link to services we use and recommend (money transfers, travel insurance, visa concierges, hotel bookings), some links may be affiliate links — meaning we may earn a small commission at no cost to the reader. These relationships never influence which services we cover or what we say about them, and they are disclosed here rather than sprinkled through the articles.
